Sport Shooting Club Johannesburg | Train, Compete, Improve

Where Training Becomes Competition

If you’re looking for a sport shooting club in Johannesburg that does more than stand and shoot at a target, you’re in the right place.

Shield Tactical is built around one thing — real skill under pressure.

This is not a casual range day. This is structured training, practical shooting, and a clear path from beginner to confident, capable shooter.

This is not a public range club.

It is a development pipeline built for shooters who train consistently.

Competition Structure

Bi-Monthly IPSC-Based Club Shoots

Full 5–6 stage matches
Proper scoring
Real match pressure
Match fee applies

These shoots simulate real competition conditions and prepare members for league and regional events.

Bi-Monthly In-Training Competitions

Integrated into monthly training
Often include classifier stages
Used as performance benchmarks
Covered under training fees

These are assessment days.
They show you exactly where your skills stand.

All of our Shield Tactical competition shoots count towards an annual Shield Tactical league. We end the year with a Championship shoot where we all get together for a fun day on the range with our annual winners being celebrated.

What Makes This Shooting Club Different

Most shooting clubs give you a place to shoot.

We give you a way to improve.

  • Structured training built into every session
  • Real-world defensive shooting principles
  • Progression into sport shooting and competition
  • Small, focused group environment
  • Coaching from an experienced instructor, not supervision

This is where training and competition meet.

Who This Is For

This sport shooting club in Johannesburg is built for:

  • Complete beginners who want to learn properly
  • Firearm owners who want real confidence
  • People preparing for competency or licensing
  • Shooters who want to move into sport shooting
  • Competitive shooters looking to sharpen skills

If you’re serious about getting better, you’ll fit in here.

From Training to Competition

This is where most people get stuck. Not here.

We run a hybrid shooting club:

  • Training sessions to build skill
  • Internal competitions to test it
  • IPSC-style stages adapted for all levels

You don’t need to be competitive to start.
But if you want to go there, the path is already built.

Beginner Friendly. No Experience Needed.

Never shot before? Good.

You’ll be coached properly from day one.

  • Firearm provided if needed
  • One-on-one guidance where required
  • Safe, controlled environment
  • Clear progression

Most people don’t start because they don’t know how.

That’s exactly why this exists.

Safety Comes First

Everything we do is built on safety.

  • One-on-one supervision for live fire
  • Beginners handled carefully and progressively
  • Strict control on the firing line
  • Real discipline, not casual handling

If you’re concerned about safety, you should be.
That’s why we take it seriously.

How to Join the Shooting Club

There’s no complicated process.

If you train with Shield Tactical regularly, you’re part of the club.

We keep the group focused, committed, and improving.

Affiliation & Progression

We are affiliated to EGPSA.

Shooters who progress to regional and sanctioned events join SAPSA and EGPSA individually when ready.

The club serves as the bridge between training and formal IPSC competition.
